Welcome to Caring Canines Therapy
Dogs, Inc. We are a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Therapy Dog organization founded in September 2003.
Our purpose is to share the love and joy of our canine companions — trained and tested Therapy Dogs —
with others. Our dogs come in all shapes and sizes, pure breed and mixed breeds.
As Caring Canines Therapy Dogs, Inc. we visit area nursing homes, assisted living facilities, hospitals,
libraries, schools, child care centers and camps for the seriously ill children in Lake County, Florida. A Therapy Dog visitation can:
Encourage a withdrawn patient or older adult to respond
Relieve
loneliness and depression
Lower
a patient's blood pressure and heart rate
Facilitate
conversation and interaction
Stimulate minds, lift spirits and spark memories
Help a child practice reading skills
Calm a hyperactive child
Provide a welcome change from daily
routine to staff as well as patients
Bring some fun!
Is your dog friendly, healthy, well-behaved
and happy? If so, he or she is probably qualified to become a Therapy Dog. The Therapy Dog registration
process involves testing your dog for basic obedience skills and appropriate personality traits, and observing your
ability to handle your dog in a safe and effective manner. A health certificate and proof of current required vaccinations
for your dog is required. The process is not difficult, time-consuming, or expensive and we encourage all interested
persons to explore the possibilities! If you are interested in getting your dog certified, membership in Caring Canines can
help you through the process.
** All of the members of Caring Canines are volunteers. We
are never paid for the visitations we make to the various facilites that we visit. Our work comes from the goodness
of our hearts, doing what we love to do. If you are interested in making a donation to our organization,
as stated above we are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and all donations are tax deducible and greatly appreciated.
